Ingredients

  • 1 pie crust homemade or store-bought
  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound Italian sausage optional
  • 1/2 cup pepperoni slices
  • 1 onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup marinara or pizza sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh basil chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Prep & Cook Meat

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and brown the ground beef and Italian sausage, breaking the meat into small pieces as it cooks. Drain off any excess fat.
  • Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the meat and cook for 2 to 3 minutes until softened and fragrant.

Assemble & Bake

  • Stir the marinara sauce and pepperoni slices into the skillet. Let the filling simmer on low heat for 3 to 5 minutes to let the flavors combine.
  • Roll out the pie crust and press it gently into a standard pie dish.
  • Pour the warm meat filling into the pie crust and spread it evenly, then top with the shredded mozzarella cheese.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the crust turns golden brown and the mozzarella is melted and bubbly.
  • Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh chopped basil, let cool for 5 minutes, then slice and serve hot.
